Our researchers Mojca Plesničar and Jasmina Arnež participated in an international seminar on parole entitled The Future of Parole: Ideas, Institutions and Practice, held at the Onati International Institute for the Sociology of Law in the Basque Country. The seminar brings together a number of international researchers who are studying parole issues in their own contexts and at a comparative and conceptual level. Arnež and Plesničar presented a paper entitled Exceptionally complicated: The interplay between the purpose, institutions, and conditions of conditional release in the Slovenian ‘penal exceptionalism’, in which they presented some of the findings of the national project Slovenian Conditional Release Regulation and Practice, which was completed at Institute of Criminology in 2022.
