We kindly invite you to a lecture by Dr. Nina Beguš entitled “Artificial Humanities: Artificial Intelligence, Fiction, Ethics”, which will be organised as part of our Tuesday Meetings on Wednesday, 19 June 2024, at 11:00 in the library of the Institute of Criminology. The lecture will be held in Slovenian language.
Like any technology, artificial intelligence (AI) is not only limited by technical advances, but also poses social and humanistic challenges. This lecture will present some of the philosophical and ethical issues using examples of generative AI, in particular chatbots, virtual assistants and so-called virtual beings. We will ask how to use and regulate existing technological products appropriately, and consider how to build AI outside limited frameworks.
Nina Beguš is a researcher and lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley and founder of InterpretAI. In her work, Dr. Beguš applies humanistic methods to the improvement of technical systems in the fields of history of science, literary studies, and ethics.
